the excellency of our English language

Question

I have found that “getting into” the koine’ Greek, and Hebrew Scriptures, has been extremely gratifying! Your comments would be appreciated.

Response

I appreciate hearing of your general concurrence with us regarding the King James Bible.

I can likewise appreciate what you said about “‘getting into’ the koine’ Greek, and Hebrew Scriptures” and finding it “extremely gratifying.” My background has a number of Greek and Hebrew courses of study in it as well. However, with respect to myself, I eventually came to realize that not only did I not understand and appreciate Greek and Hebrew as well as the King James Bible translators did, (nor would I, no matter how many years I had been studying those languages. or would continue to study them), I also came to realize that I did not understand, appreciate, and/or use the English language as well as they did when they translated the KJV. So for myself, (and I am only speaking for myself), I have now left the job of translating in their hands, and my language studies and exegesis of God’s word now involves making sure that I fully understand and appreciate the excellency of our English language as they used it, so that I fully understand and comprehend their exact translation of God’s words into English.
