The opening chapters of the book of Acts are commonly thought of as describing the
beginning of the dispensation of grace. The day of Pentecost often is cited as the
birthday of the church. That this is not so is abundantly apparent. God s program and
dealings with Israel is still in effect at that time, as an examination of Acts 1-7 shows.
